I agree that people can play a large role in our daily emotions, but I think that the "happy" experiences you shared were more because of your ability to go outside of yourself. Despite your bad mood, you welcomed someone else's positive energy. You were also open to learning about a friend's project, meeting a new contact and learning about the community around you.
